Submit a Correction

Accuracy is fundamental to our credibility. If you've identified incorrect information, we want to know immediately.

Our Correction Promise

  • We investigate all correction requests within 5 business days
  • Verified corrections are published within 24 hours
  • All corrections are documented in our public changelog
  • We acknowledge when we're wrong—no hiding mistakes

What Qualifies as a Correction

Factual Errors (We Fix These)

Examples of factual errors:

  • Incorrect address or contact information
  • Wrong credentials listed (e.g., stating dentist is board-certified when they're not)
  • Outdated information (business closed, moved, or changed ownership)
  • Incorrect project attribution ("Studio X didn't design that")
  • Misstated prices or service offerings
  • Misquoted awards or recognition

NOT Corrections (We Don't Change These)

We don't change subjective assessments:

  • "We should be ranked higher" (subjective ranking opinion)
  • "You undervalued our design work" (subjective quality assessment)
  • "We're better than the business ranked above us" (comparative opinion)
  • "You didn't mention our best project" (editorial choice, not error)
  • Disagreement with methodology or criteria weights

However, if a subjective assessment was based on a factual error, we'll reconsider. For example, if we scored you lower on technology because we didn't know about equipment you have, that's correctable.

Correction Request Form

We'll use this to follow up on your correction request.

Helps us understand potential bias, but doesn't affect whether we fix errors.

Full URL of the page containing the error.

Examples: Link to official license database, news article, business website, official document. Strong evidence speeds up corrections.

Important: Only submit corrections for factual errors. Disagreements with subjective rankings or methodology should go to general contact.

What Happens After You Submit

  2. Investigation (5 business days): Our editorial team reviews the claim, verifies evidence, and checks original sources.
  3. Decision & Response: We'll email you with one of three outcomes:
    • Correction confirmed: We'll publish the fix within 24 hours and notify you
    • Correction not needed: We'll explain why the original information is correct

  4. Publication (if confirmed): Corrected page is updated, correction note added, and change logged in changelog.

Examples of Good Correction Requests

✅ Good Example

Page: https://thetop10rank.com/dentists/new-york/

Error: Page states "Dr. Smith graduated from NYU College of Dentistry in 2015"

Correct Info: Dr. Smith graduated in 2012, not 2015

Evidence: Link to NYU dental school alumni directory showing 2012 graduation: [URL]. Also verified on state dental board: [URL]

Why this is good: Specific, includes exact quote, provides verifiable evidence.

❌ Bad Example

Page: Some gym page

Error: Your rankings are wrong

Correct Info: My gym should be #1

Evidence: We have the best equipment in town

Why this is bad: Not specific, subjective claim, no verifiable evidence, unclear which page.

Transparency & Accountability

All published corrections are documented in our public changelog with:

  • Date of correction
  • Page affected
  • What was incorrect
  • What was changed
  • Source of correction (anonymous unless requester wants credit)

This accountability ensures we can't quietly change content without acknowledging mistakes.

Questions About Corrections

Can I submit corrections anonymously?

We need an email to follow up, but we won't publish your identity without permission. In the changelog, we'll note "Correction based on reader submission" unless you want credit.

What if the business disagrees with the correction?

If we verify a factual error, we correct it regardless of business preference. If there's legitimate disagreement about facts (e.g., conflicting sources), we'll note the dispute and update with most authoritative source.

Can I request removal instead of correction?

We only remove content if it's defamatory or based entirely on false information. Corrections preserve the ranking with updated accurate information. See our editorial policy for removal criteria.

What if my correction request is ignored?

We respond to all requests within 5 business days. If you haven't heard back, email editorial@thetop10rank.com with your original submission. Technical issues occasionally cause missed emails.
